Tyler Rust on Why His WWE Release Wasn’t As Expected

Before WWE Superstar Tyler Rust recently appeared on That’s My Wrestling Podcast and opened up about its release.

He reported to Performance Center in December 2020 and was released last August. During that time, Tyler Rust had a brief stint in WWE NXT in 2020-21.

Rust detailed his WWE release in his latest interview with It’s My Wrestling Podcast. He revealed that he received a lot of positive feedback from his superiors and was told that they enjoyed his work.

“Yes, I mean, of course it was a huge shock you know. Everything we were told at the time was nothing very positive, insights from whoever was running. NXT It’s all been very positive feedback from people, they really like the work I’m doing, they love the work that Roddy (Strong) and I are doing there as a team. incredible statement, Hideki is a force to be reckoned with.”

He recalls receiving positive feedback from veterans and WWE producer Fits Finlay. While Rust thought he was on the right track, where did the news of his release come from.

“I remember I was working a lot with Fit Finlay at the time and he was always shaking hands with the things that we were doing to try and provide that extra sense of reality because Finlay was incredible. He always told me this was some of the best work I’ve seen you do here… And then, yeah, two weeks later, I got the phone call that I was being released. and I thought, Okay, that’s unexpected,” Rust said. Tyler Rust Joined Diamond Mine During His Short NXT Run

Tyler Rust was brought to NXT TV shortly after arriving at the WWE Performance Center. He established himself as a heel when he moved to NXT, playing a role as a student of Timothy Thatcher.

Rust is later seen backstage with Malcolm Bivens. The duo quickly became part of Diamond Mine, along with Hachiman and Roderick Strong. However, before Rust could do anything remarkable about the black gold branding, he was released by WWE on August 6, 2021.

Rust wrestled with a number of TV matches and won three. He defeated Ariya Daivari, Dante Rios and Bobby Fish. In his final match on NXT, Rust teamed up with Roderick Strong in a losing attempt to Bobby Fish and KUSHIDA.
