Two paratroopers killed in horror crash are named

TWO paratroopers have been killed in a horror multi-vehicle car accident – days after a soldier stationed at the same base in Alaska was mauled by a bear.
Spc. Wyne Lyndon Jacob Abonita, 22, and Pvt. Valsin David Tate Jr., 23, died in Anchorage on May 13.

They were both stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.
According to Stars and Stripes, two other soldiers were injured in the collision of several vehicles.
It comes just days after Staff Sgt Michael Plant was killed in a bear attack on the base on May 10.
Plant had been on the base since July 2021, the army said in a statement.


He was an infantryman with the 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment.
A den containing two brown bear cubs was found near the site of the attack, according to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
Lt Col David Ja Nelson, 3rd Battalion, commander of the 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment said Plant “always had a smile on his face, he always went above and beyond what was asked of him and he served as a An inspiration to all who have had the privilege of knowing him.”
