Two British brothers have been raped in Spain after being drugged in a nightclub

TWO British tourists have been raped in the Spanish city of Valencia after being drugged at night.

The victims alerted detectives after waking up after a party in a hotel room near a mall called Nuevo Centro.

They were described locally as two brothers who sounded the alarm after discovering they had injuries to their privates “consistent with rape”.

The couple believed they were drugged during a night out.

In June it emerged that police in the same town on Spain’s east coast were investigating the alleged rape of a 28-year-old Irish tourist.

He told investigators he was sexually assaulted on the last night of his holiday in Valencia.

This incident is said to have happened on June 18 in an old river bed, after he agreed to walk with two men “of Arabic descent with a French accent” whom he met in the emblematic neighborhood of El Carmen.

There are said to have been no arrests.

A local report said at the time the holidaymaker told officers his clothes were ripped off before he was forced to have sex during the walk.

The latest incident was reported to police on Sunday.

The two Britons were examined at the La Fe hospital in Valencia.

It comes as police across Spain are investigating a spate of alleged spiking cases at nightclubs and festivals across the country.

On Tuesday it emerged that Civil Guard officers covering the province of Valencia were alerted to five incidents involving needle injections, although they said no chemical substances had been found in the applicants’ bloodstream.

There is still no official statement from the National Police in Valencia, the force that is said to have contacted the two British brothers.
