Twitter explodes as Barcelona concedes final equalizer in 1-1 draw with Granada

Barcelona dropped two valuable points away from home when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Granada at Los Carmenes. The Catalan giants looked like they were going to score the crucial three points but were stopped late in the game by a Granada team that refused to take down without a fight in front of their fans.
Barcelona have named a relatively strong squad considering their injury crashes in recent weeks, with Dani Alves starting for the second time since returning to the club last month. The home side held the ball quite a bit in the first half but could not find a breakthrough, while Granada destroyed everything that came their way.
Finally, Barcelona broke the deadlock in the 57th minute thanks to Luuk de Jong, who applied shots after Alves’ excellent pass. However, Xavi’s side suffered a shock with about 12 minutes left when Gavi was sent off for a second foul.
Barcelona suffered a hammer blow in the closing stages of the match
Granada made their man’s advantage substantial and restored parity just before injury time through Antonio Puertas. The Spaniard put the ball in the net after Barcelona failed to clear it from a corner, giving the visitors their second draw in three La Liga games.
Speaking after the game, Xavi praised Barcelona’s inexperience but refused to blame Gavi for his sacking.
“It’s a pity but it was our fault. It was inexperience. The red card made us weak, but we lost because of the error.”
“We lost two very important points. It was us, not the opponent. We lost some silly ball. The second half was in control. We couldn’t go home happy. looks after. We get angry. We have to be self-critical.”
“The referee is there to make these decisions, not for me to get involved. Experience and know-how comes with the game. We couldn’t ask for more from Gavi. He was a player for the team. us a lot and his sacking clearly undermined us.”
Barcelona are currently sixth in the La Liga standings and will be looking to return to victory in their next encounter with Alaves. Of note, here are some of the best reactions to their 1-1 draw against Granada.

Pique, the man who should have been sent off tonight but not because of the poor refereeing, is now taking to Twitter to complain about the referee’s incompetence. This guy is sure to become the next president of Barcelona, he is a top clown.

Apparently Pique got the attention of many Spanish journalists when he attacked Canut immediately. Players should do this more often, accountability is a foreign concept to 99% of sports journalists in Spain.

Xavi Hernández: “It’s the same movie as in Pamplona. We have to defend with the ball and we have to be more patient. It was a 0-2 game… These were our mistakes, us. inexperienced and we had to self-criticize.”
