A TWISTED pedophile has allegedly used online games like Fortnite and Call of Duty to abuse children while bribing them with in-game items.
Convicted sex offender Aldo Maximiliano, 42, was caught by police officers in Spain and allegedly had 2,000 files of child abuse images from a massive online foster operation.
He was already a convicted pedophile – having previously served prison sentences for 22 sex crimes against a minor and two for exhibitionism.
Maximiliano, who lived in Malaga with his elderly mother, used the online shooter games Fortnite and Call of Duty – along with the fantasy RPG World of Warcraft – to meet his alleged victims, reports La Opinion De Malaga.
The pedophile, a former football coach, is said to have nursed at least 26 victims between the ages of eight and 12.
He is accused of posing as a child and offering youngsters virtual gifts – like guns and in-game passports – before coaxing them to appear on camera on video messaging service Skype.
Maximiliano would then allegedly pressure the children into appearing naked, only to then scan the image and save it on his computer.
Civil Guard investigators searched 560 gigabytes of information that revealed his alleged chats and interactions with young players.
He reportedly accessed online games 3,000 times and made 81 payments to underage accounts.
Video footage of his arrest in the south shows the paedo being taken away by police while other officers searched his computers.
Police began investigating Aldo in July 2021 – and he has now been charged with crimes of sexual abuse and underage recruitment.
It cannot be ruled out that there are other victims, so the investigation remains open.
He was first drawn to police when the parents of a boy, 9, were worried about a “friend” he made on Fortnite.
The boy would reportedly play with Aldo and appear on video calls with him.
The child then admitted to his parents that he would allegedly undress for the pedophile in exchange for online gifts.
“Once we caught him, the hardest part was identifying the children who were in those photos,” police told El Espanol.
They found that Maximiliano allegedly sometimes spent years grooming his alleged victims and forming “long-term friendships” with them.
The researchers had the terrifying task of going through the 2,000 images frame by frame to try to identify the children.
The Civil Guard then had to contact the parents of all the victims they could name – with at least three in Malaga.
Police are also investigating separate allegations that Maximiliano molested a victim he met at a naturist beach he frequented in Benalmádena.
