Good morning football fans
Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has been accused of setting a bad example after leaving Old Trafford before the end of Sunday’s friendly against Rayo Vallecano, reports SunSport’s Neil Custis.
United coach Erik ten Hag has called for cohesion in his squad ahead of the new season.
But after a side dispute with Ten Hag, Ronaldo was substituted at half-time by the Dutch tactician.
Then the five-time Ballon d’Or winner didn’t return to the dugout but left with 10 minutes left.
The Manchester giants are not going to sanction the star striker for his early exit, but a United insider told SunSport: “It doesn’t look good to leave early when you’ve been involved in the squad.
“It’s different when you’re up in the stands and not involved. One would expect that someone who attended the game would end up standing in the dressing room listening to the manager’s thoughts.
“Also, a lot of people were there to see him and he wasn’t even involved in the clapping of the fans after the final whistle.”
Meanwhile, Barcelona manager Xavi is planning a reunion with Lionel Messi next year as he asked club president Joan Laporta to bring back his former Paris Saint-Germain team-mate.
Messi left Barca last year at the end of his contract with the club, who were paralyzed by their financial situation at the time.
According to Sport, a return to the Nou-Camp could be possible next year.
Xavi has instructed Laporta to lure the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner back to Catalonia soon.
The Spanish tactician believes the forward would bring a lot to the club, both economically and in terms of sport.
There is also a belief that the Argentina international has many years left in his career.
And Chelsea ace Timo Werner is in talks to join Newcastle on loan this summer.
But Werner’s £270,000-a-week salary could prove a stumbling block in any potential deal.
The striker has failed to reach the heights many had hoped for when he made his £48million move from RB Leipzig two years ago.
The Germany international’s return of just 10 goals in 56 Premier League games falls far short of expected figures.
The Daily Mirror report that the 26-year-old is still keen to succeed in England’s top flight and could join the Magpies on loan.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is looking to land an attacker before the transfer window hits.
Finally, Leicester expect Arsenal to step in and make an offer for Youri Tielemans before the end of the summer transfer window.
However, it has been claimed that the Gunners have yet to turn their interest in Tielemans into something formal.
SunSport exclusively revealed last month that the Gunners were considering a £30m move for the midfielder.
According to The Guardian, the Foxes expect the north Londoners to make a bid for the Belgium international soon.
But they say there haven’t been any offers for the 25-year-old from any club yet and United are said to be keeping an eye on him too.
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has warned teams looking to raid his club they will not be “exploited” to sell their best players
