Thanks to a recent thread on Reddit, some customers may have received answers about the possible discontinuation of Trader Joe’s famous vegetable chicken noodle soup.
“Is there an official list of discontinued items?” asked a concerned shopper.
“I haven’t seen the rip-off takis or the chicken noodle soup with vegetables in months.”
Another Trader Joe’s fan responded that the list of discontinued items at the retail giant is likely much longer than the current list of products available for purchase.

“The list of items discontinued by Trader Joe’s would be longer than the current list of items they carry. It would be a set of 55 books to rival any encyclopedia you could ever find,” they claimed.
Others leaned toward the possibility that the chicken noodle soup was actually discontinued, as they had reportedly seen a pattern with previous products.
“My rule of thumb for TJ items is that if the season changes and the product is out of stock, it will no longer be offered,” wrote one Redditor.
“The stores aren’t very big and a lot of non-staples are seasonal, so it’s always better to be safe and stock up if you really, really like something.”
Although a third party reminded Trader Joe’s shoppers that to confirm a discontinuation, they could call their local store and ask about the status.
“If you feel comfortable, you can always call your local store and ask them to check the status of a product and they can try to look it up for you on the computer,” they said.
“This will give you the most accurate information as availability can often vary by region.”
The Redditor provided a comment from a shopper who spoke to his local Trader Joe’s about the vegetable chicken noodle soup, and employees allegedly told him the product was discontinued.
“I was in the store today and wanted it, but nothing. I asked and they said it was discontinued,” they claimed.
They also provided a link to a sub-Reddit page where alleged Trader Joe’s employees provided a list of all discontinued items for 2023.
Chicken noodle soup with vegetables wasn’t on the list, but several others were, including the classic hummus, honey wheat pretzel sticks, and smoked andouille chicken sausage.
Other fans were particularly distraught over the alleged loss of grilled chicken strips and smoked salmon in oil.
“Did they get rid of the just-grilled chicken strips? They were so easy to use and unfortunately always sold out,” one person remarked.
“The Bellingham store told me the lightly smoked salmon in oil was gone. If this is true I am very disappointed,” another added.
There may still be hope for Trader Joe’s customers who love the vegetable chicken noodle soup.
Aldi’s Isle of Shame publication compiled a list of what’s new at Trader Joe’s and the store’s discontinued items this year, and chicken noodle soup was nowhere to be found.
The US Sun has reached out to Trader Joe’s for further comment on the status of the popular product.
