Trader Joe’s brings back ‘absolute best chip’ after it was discontinued – and it’s gluten free

A popular Trader Joe’s snack has returned after being discontinued — and now it’s gluten-free.
The salsa verde-flavored corn tortilla chips were a favorite among Trader Joe’s customers until they were discontinued earlier this year.

As parting, the company announced that the company would be giving away the product to get rid of excess inventory.
Trader Joe’s Tasting Table (@traderjoestastingtable) claimed in a TikTok that he was told about the free snack on a local Free Everything Facebook group.
“Turns out the flavor is discontinued and they have a surplus,” the narrator said.
A TikToker in the comments, claiming to be an employee, confirmed the demise of Trader Joe’s branded snack.

“I gave away so many of these during my shift at TJS today. We had to ask all customers if they wanted some free chips,” they said.
However, a popular TikTok account, @QueenOfTraderJoes, has revealed that the snack is back after a few months.
The special feature: The chips are now gluten-free.
“Trader Joe’s previously discontinued salsa verde chips are back!” the caption read.
The chips were popular for their delicious salsa verde flavor and are often compared to Doritos.
“Crispy tortilla chips dusted with a zesty, savory seasoning inspired by our very own (and now iconic) Salsa Verde? Yes please!” Read the description on Trader Joe’s website.
“This combination of crunchy white corn tortilla chips with the tart, slightly spicy touch of our tomatillo-based salsa verde makes for something wonderful—a truly tantalizingly flavorful chip.”
The chips are not only gluten-free, but also vegan for people with dietary restrictions.
When the snack was first discontinued, customers couldn’t help but voice their grievances online.
“No way. It’s the absolute best chip!! How can you hire him?!!!” one person wrote on Tiktok.
“That’s why you can never fall in love with a TJ article,” wrote another person.
