A FAMILY of four and a pilot have died in a tragic accident after their light plane crashed in the French Alps.
The tourist plane was reportedly on its first flight after taking off from Versoud airfield near Grenoble in south-eastern France.
According to reports, the plane crashed near the town of Isere in the Isère region on Saturday.
The accident happened in the afternoon just after take-off from Versoud aerodrome near Grenoble in south-eastern France for a flight that should have lasted half an hour.
Eyewitnesses to the crash informed the emergency services, who found the bodies of four adults and a child in the burned-out wreckage of the plane.
About 60 firefighters were deployed to extinguish the fire.
Grenoble prosecutors have ordered an investigation into the incident, regional officials said.
