TOTTENHAM are planning a summer transfer for Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence.
The youngster has been a revelation at Nottingham Forest this season with a string of impressive performances that helped them reach the Championship play-off final.
Spence, loaned to the City Ground from Middlesbrough, has attracted the attention of a number of Premier League clubs.
Arsenal are among them after their outstanding performance knocked Mikel Arteta’s side out of the FA Cup.
But just as Spurs got their north London rivals in the top four, so too will they steal Spence from under their noses.
Antonio Conte sees him as a potential right-back upgrade as the Italian looks to invest heavily in his squad this summer.
Conte Emerson Royal is believed to be happy to let go and has made £15million Spence his main target.
Spence’s ambition is to play at the highest level and Boro will sell to the highest bidder – Bayern Munich are also said to have scouted the defender.
Brentford are another club in the running for Spence and believe he would suit their style of play perfectly.
The Bees are also interested in another Forest star, Brennan Johnson, who has 18 league goals this season.

And like Spence, his future could depend on Steve Cooper’s side being promoted in Sunday’s playoff final against Huddersfield.
Spurs are also keen on Johnson, who was tipped off by Wales manager Rob Page amid Arsenal interest in joining a top-six side.
Tottenham are approaching another winger with Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic looking to snub Chelsea to join them.
Conte is looking to reshuffle his squad this year, with centre-back Alessandro Bastoni being sought along with a backup for Harry Kane.
The Italian is also keen to get rid of deadwood that could see Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Harry Winks leaving permanently this summer.
