TOTTENHAM have been haunted by the Manchester City ghost for two weeks now.

Just two weeks ago, Spurs stormed to a surprising 2-0 lead for Pep Guardiola’s side.

But in a remarkable second-half comeback, City scored FOUR Times to score 4-2 winners and leave Antonio Conte stunned.

City can go just TWO points behind leaders Arsenal with a win.

Spurs are in fifth place, four points behind Newcastle United but will have played a game more.

So Conte is already nearing must-win territory and while even a point against City would feel like a win, the Italy manager knows he can’t afford to see his side tally too many loses points.

Unfortunately, he is likely to miss the game after undergoing surgery to remove his gallbladder earlier this week.

The second half of the season now begins with the closing of the transfer window.

Man City signed midfielder Maximo Perrone from Velez Sarsfield but the departure of Joao Cancelo was the real shock to the transfer deals.

Tottenham, on the other hand, only bolstered their squad, bringing in Arnaut Danjuma and Pedro Porro after allowing a flood of squad players to leave.

What’s new from the team?

Tottenham: Richarlison, Lucas Moura and Pape Matar Sarr are all in contention for the game following recent injuries.

Pedro Porro could be thrown in at the deep end after his Deadline Day transfer and start at right-back.

man city: Phil Foden and John Stones are doubtful after injury.

Otherwise, it’s a full squad for Guardiola to choose from, with Perrone the only new signing – although he’s unlikely to start.

While Kane may be Shearer’s heir apparent, if Haaland stays in England long enough he will almost certainly go one better and break the all-time record.

Guardiola can rest Haaland from time to time thanks to Julian Alvarez’s excellent form.

But make no mistake, the Norwegian ex-Borussia Dortmund star is the main protagonist – and the one opponents fear most.

What did the managers say?

Antonio Conte recently had an operation to remove his gallbladder and could miss the game.

The Italian has not commented since his shock diagnosis on Wednesday.

But assistant Cristian Stellini said: “We don’t know yet when he will come back.

“The operation was good. He’s recovering well at home. We have two days left before the game and anything can happen.

“The decision will be made tomorrow. We are ready to do anything, and probably the doctor who performed the operation will have to decide for him. We have 48 hours to decide.

“I don’t think anyone here can calm him down.

“He’s an intelligent man. He knows what happened. The surgery isn’t the worst, but it’s still surgery and he knows he has to be careful.”

Pep Guardiola has revealed John Stones will be absent for up to a month but hinted Phil Foden could join the squad.

He also addressed the fight between Kane and Haaland, saying: “We’re very happy with Erling, I think Spurs are very happy with Kane.

“What an exceptional player Harry is and the quality of his goals. I think Kane proves that titles mean nothing. He remains one of the best strikers I’ve seen in my life.

“You’re glad to have him. We’re happy to have a young player like Erling who will hopefully play for us for many years to come.”
