But he is expected to return to the Premier League to back Fulham’s bid for survival.

The Cottagers are close to sealing a £9.5million move for the Benfica star, according to the Portuguse Outlet Record.

And Vinicius will reportedly end his two-year loan deal with PSV Eindhoven to join Craven Cottage.

And if Fulham can complete the transfer before the end of the day, the Brazilian will become their eighth signing this summer.

Marco Silva’s side face a busy deadline day, although their attempts to sign Roma winger Justin Kluivert fell through after he was refused a work permit.

Fulham agreed personal terms with Kluivert this month after new signing Manor Solomon picked up a serious injury.

Kluivert, who was on loan at Nice last season, was due to undergo a medical on Wednesday before realizing there was no chance of a move.

There is a new points system for work permits after Brexit ended the free movement of workers from the EU and Kluivert did not play enough games last season to meet the criteria for a work permit.

The club are still battling Nottingham Forest to sign Houssem Aouar but will have to spend £13m on the Lyon midfielder.

Aoaur is said to be keen on the west London move but his price tag is higher than Fulham can afford.
