Tottenham confirm Pedro Porro’s signing in £42m transfer from Sporting Lisbon just minutes before the deadline

TOTTENHAM have confirmed the signing of Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon.
Spurs announced the right-back had joined the club with a quirky social media post just 10 minutes before the transfer window closed.

He will initially move on a loan basis until the end of the season, with a purchase commitment at the end of the season.
Spain international Porro will cost around £4.4m on loan on loan, with a further £37.3m if they make it permanent in the summer.
Manchester City, where Porro spent three seasons but never played, will be in for a windfall of around £10.2million if the move is made permanent in the summer.
That’s because of a clause in the defender’s sale to Sporting that gave them a right to a 30 per cent profit on his next transfer.
The transfer seemed on the brink of collapse ahead of deadline.
Sporting were reluctant to approve the move until they were happy with the finances attached to the deal.
But those issues have been ironed out and Porro becomes Spurs’ second signing for the first-team of the month following the arrival of Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal.
Speaking on his move to Tottenham, Pedro Porro said: “I feel great about the move. I really wanted to come here. It’s a unique opportunity for me and I hope everything goes well.”

He fitted well into Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 formation, adding: “Yes, I think it’s going to be a very good thing for me and that’s why I was so impressed by the prospect of playing here.”
To make room for the new Spaniard, Matt Doherty sensationally had his contract terminated by mutual consent so he could join Atletico Madrid.
Irishman Doherty, 31, was originally set to be loaned out by the La Liga giants.
But with right-back Djed Spence transferred to Rennes, Spurs were at their limit for international loans.
Fifa rules state that only eight players can be loaned abroad in a season.
Tottenham were already on that number due to Gio Lo Celso (Villarreal), Tanguy Ndombele (Napoli), Harry Winks (Sampdoria), Sergio Reguilon (Atletico Madrid), Destiny Udogie (Udinese), Bryan Gil (Sevilla), Joe Rodon and Spence (both Rennes) all temporarily away from the club.
Doherty had just under 18 months to complete his Spurs contract before the player and club agreed to terminate him.
SunSport understand Atletico boss Diego Simeone was not involved in the deal but was instead carried out at board level.
The two clubs are thought to be on excellent terms since Spurs sold Kieran Trippier – another right-back – to Atletico in 2019.
Spence’s temporary move to Rennes is just a straight loan as the 22-year-old is asking for more playing time after just six appearances NO starts this season.
Tottenham have also poached 19-year-old Jude Soonsup-Bell from Chelsea on a contract until June 2025, adding the England Under-19 forward to their development squad.
While Spurs youngster Harvey White, 21, has also been loaned to League One team Derby.
