Tottenham close in on Pedro Porro transfer as Sporting ‘ask Brighton about Tariq Lamptey loan as replacement’

TOTTENHAM are closer to signing Pedro Porro after Sporting reportedly contacted Brighton over a loan deal for Tariq Lamptey as a replacement.
Spurs boss Antonio Conte has been looking for a right-back who fits his system since the summer.

Porro, 23, is their main target and they are growing increasingly confident of completing a £40m deal.
A £32.5m offer has already been rejected this month, with Portuguese club Sporting remaining adamant about the player’s £40m release clause.
However, SunSport understand that after talks between both clubs over the past two days, an agreement is close to being finalized to reach that number in this window.
Now that transfer seems closer after The Athletic claimed Sporting had “reached Brighton about signing Lamptey on loan”.
The former Chelsea ace, 22, joined the Seagulls in January 2020 and is under contract until 2025.
Former England youth international Lamptey, who has now switched allegiances and played for Ghana at the World Cup, has made just 16 Premier League appearances in total.
And he’s only started one top-flight game this season.
Meanwhile, Spain international Porro, who was once on the books at Manchester City, has made almost 100 appearances in all competitions since joining Sporting in 2020.

Should the deal go through, City would benefit from a 30 per cent resale clause after leaving Manchester for good for £7.2million in May 2022.
The signing would see the north London club’s spending surpass £200m over the course of this season after spending £170m playing seven players over the summer.
Despite having won just two of their last six Premier League games, Spurs still compete in the FA Cup and Champions League – and remain three points adrift of the top four.
