Tottenham and Rennes are close to an agreement over Djed Spence joining team-mate Joe Rodon on loan at the French club

But boss Antonio Conte made it clear it was a deal by the club and not one he was demanding.
And since then, England Under-21 international Spence has been limited to just six appearances from the bench for Spurs.
A host of clubs including Leicester, Brentford and Crystal Palace are all interested in a loan deal this month.
But we’ve exclusively revealed how his exit was held up by Spurs’ refusal to include an option to buy.
Spurs don’t want to risk losing Spence for good at the end of the season, especially with Conte’s future in doubt.
And CEO Daniel Levy does not currently have any standing deals or any loan offers with an option or commitment to buy.
That protracted the negotiations, but now there seems to have been a breakthrough regarding the ex-Fulham trainee.
However now Sky sports news claim that Spence will “join Stade Rennais on loan for the remainder of the season”.

Should he move to the Ligue 1 club, Spence will team up with his Spurs loanee Joe Rodon.
The 25-year-old Wales international defender traveled there last summer for the 2022/23 season.
He has made 16 appearances in all competitions for Rennes, who is currently fifth in the French top flight.
