Bernardeschi, 28, made 36 appearances for Massimiliano Allegri’s side last season but now faces a new challenge.

According to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romanothe winger has reached an agreement with MLS club Toronto FC.

He adds that an “oral agreement” has been reached and contracts are to be signed.

Bernardeschi will fly to Canada today to finalize the deal.

The Italy international becomes the third Azzurri player in the Toronto squad.

He joins Napoli legend Lorenzo Insigne and 26-cap defender Domenico Criscito in Canada.

The MLS team also had Italian forward Sebastian Giovinco between 2015 and 2019.

Giovinco scored 83 goals in 142 games before joining Al-Hilal.

Toronto coach Bob Bradley will be desperate for Bernardeschi’s arrival to reignite his side’s fortunes.

They currently sit 13th in the 14-team Eastern Conference—seven points behind the playoff spots.

Toronto last tasted MLS glory in 2017 but has since seen a dip in its progress.

Bernardeschi was part of the Italy team that won Euro 2020.

He featured in the final against England, replacing Federico Chiesa in the 86th minute and scoring in the shoot-out.
