Tornado hits Oakdale in hazardous weather in Wisconsin and Iowa with ‘truck overturned and Mauston Hospital damaged’.

SEMI trucks were overturned and a hospital damaged when a tornado and strong storms swept through Wisconsin on Wednesday.

More than 100,000 residents of the state were without power after tornado warnings, which also hit Iowa.

A Wisconsin Department of Transportation camera appeared to have caught a tornado on video.

Tornadic activity caused residents to seek cover, with damage reported in Oakdale, Mauston and Wyeville.

Milwaukee and Green Bay braced for heavier weather that affected other parts of the state earlier in the day.

Parts of the state including Sturgeon Bay, Sister Bay and Ephraim have been placed under a severe thunderstorm warning with expected wind gusts of up to 70mph.

A severe thunderstorm warning was also in effect for Watertown, Mayville and Horicon centrally through 8 p.m.

Residents have been urged to stay indoors and take shelter.

Forecasters warned of severe storms expected in Wisconsin, with local news agency KIMT Weather reporting that “multiple tornadoes” were likely.

More violent storms are expected later in the evening, with most of the state of Wisconsin remaining under tornado watch through 10 p.m. local time, according to the National Weather Service.

Reports suggested the tornado caused several semi-trucks to overturn on local roads.

Photos from Mauston showed at least one truck tipped on its side.

The Weather Channel’s Jacqui Jeras added that a hospital in Mauston also suffered damage, although the severity was unclear.

Some photos showed power lines and debris littering the streets.

Other photos taken by Mauston showed fallen street signs and damaged traffic lights.

Local reports state that a portion of Interstate 90/94 between Tomah and Oakdale is closed as a result of an accident.

Debris is reportedly blocking the roadway of the tornado that made landfall.

Residents in Wyeville, in Monroe County north of Oakdale, shared photos of uprooted trees Twitter.

In Milwaukee, the city planned to host its first night market of the season.

However, due to the wind and the tornado watch, vendors have been told to take down their tents, according to local FOX affiliate.

Iowa is now bracing for the possibility of tornadoes and severe weather as the storms move.
