A staunch ally of Vladimir Putin has said he is sending his three teenage sons to fight in Ukraine.
Ramzan Kadyrov, leader of the Chechen region, is a vocal supporter of Russia’s tyrannical war, and bizarre video shows the three boys practicing gun-shooting.
Kadyrov – notorious for inflicting medieval torture on opponents – said Monday he was sending 14-year-old Adam, 15-year-old Eli and 16-year-old Akhmat to the Ukrainian front.
The video showed the boys in camouflage and dark glasses, on tanks, with guns strapped to their waists, firing rocket launchers and machine guns.
Sometimes the teenagers smile while shooting or make a thumbs-up gesture.
“It’s time to prove yourself in a real fight. I welcome this desire,” Kadyrov wrote on Telegram.
“Soon they will go to the front and find themselves on the most difficult sections of the contact line.”
He said the three had been training for combat “almost since they were young” and insisted he was “not kidding”.
Using children under the age of 15 to fight is considered a war crime by the International Criminal Court because Russia does not recognize its jurisdiction.
The Prada-wearing Kadyrov has been described as “the son Putin never had,” reflecting his slavish devotion to the Russian president.
After Russia’s recent humiliating defeats, he said Moscow should now consider using a low-yield nuclear weapon in Ukraine.
In a chilling message, he wrote: “In my personal opinion, more drastic measures should be taken, up to and including the imposition of martial law in the border areas and the use of low-yield nuclear weapons.”
He commands his own paramilitary force, the Kadyrovtsy, which he deployed during the first invasion of Ukraine right at the start of the war.
But despite their fearsome reputation, they were slaughtered on the battlefield.
They were ridiculed by Ukrainians because they seemed more focused on uploading glossy videos to social media than taking part in front-line battles.
Just three days into the war, top Chechen general Magomed Tushaev was killed in fighting outside of Kyiv as the Russian advance stalled.
Days later, footage of a wrecked Russian column in the western Kiev suburb of Bucha was shared on Telegram, showing vehicles reportedly belonging to Kadyrov’s men.
During the brutal siege of Mariupol, Kadyrov himself bizarrely took a gun-wielding son of Adam with him as he led his troops into the besieged city.
The leader said he wanted his boy to “know firsthand about the successes and needs of our fellow combatants.”
Adam had previously sparked controversy over his luxury watch collection, including an original by Richard Mille reportedly costing in excess of £263,000.
In the early days of the invasion, the former Separatist rebel gave a speech urging Volodymyr Zelenskyy to ask Putin’s forgiveness.
During his speech he was pictured in military fatigues and a pair of Prada Monolith boots worth £1200.
The ruthless man with a penchant for torture, murder, kidnapping and anti-gay purges has an estimated fortune of up to £150million.
He is believed to own a villa on the exclusive Palm Jumeriah man-made palm-shaped island in Dubai.
The warlord also has an expensive car collection, including a Rolls Royce and a Lamborghini – along with a £70million private plane, an Airbus A319.
He even has a private zoo – including tigers – near one of his mansions.
