Tomb Raider Reboot, Rise and Shadow are free on Epic Games Store

The entire Tomb Raider reboot trilogy is available for free on EGS to end 15 days from release.

Tomb Raider trio

Sadly, today is the last day of Epic’s big holiday gift. Starting December 16 and running until today, Epic gives away a new game every day for free on the Epic Game Store. One of those free games has been controlled, it’s a pretty good game that used to be the highlight of Epic’s freebies before, but today’s free games are an even bigger hit.

Total Tomb Raider restart the trio available for free on the Epic Games Store. That includes Tomb Raider: Game Of The Year Edition, which features all of the game’s various story extensions; Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20th Anniversary, includes Extreme Survivor difficulty, Co-op Endurance mode, and other DLC; and Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, which includes all DLC quests and cosmetics.

Each of these games will be free on The Epic Games Store until January 6 at 11 a.m. PT, at which point the next free game will be Gods Will Fall. It’s a good game, but the value proposition seems to be dampened somewhat by the fact that there’s only one free game instead of three.

There’s still time to take advantage of Epic’s big holiday sale, which offers potential game shoppers a $10 coupon for every game purchase over $14.99. It’s per game, not per purchase, so the more you buy, the more you save. That deal, along with various discounts and freebies for Rocket League, Warframe, and Fortnite, will also end on January 6.

Epic may have decided to give away the Tomb Raider to tie in with the franchise’s 25th anniversary, which we celebrated by publishing a full set of features and interviews about Lara Croft and her many adventures. I’m not saying giving away a bunch of free games is easy, but it probably doesn’t take as much effort as interviewing a bunch of Tomb Raider developers before.
