Brady is one of the most successful football players of all time and is widely regarded as one of the best quarterbacks to have ever played.
His retirement comes after a difficult season on and off the field.
Brady’s Bucs led the NFC South, albeit by an 8-9 loss, and fell to Dallas Cowboys in the wild card playoff round.
Meanwhile, he divorced his 13-year-old wife, Gisele Bundchen, in October.

After retiring, the former Patriot and Bucs star will join Fox Sports on a 10-year, $375 million broadcast deal.
But he doesn’t seem ready to enter the analyst booth just yet – and shared a highly revealing snap to his 3 million Twitter followers on Monday.
Brady uploaded a photo of himself sitting on a bed wearing nothing but a pair of his own Brady Brand underwear and covering his crotch with his hand.
Tagging former teammates Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski – who have both recently modeled underwear – he captioned the post: “Did I do it right?”
The images appear to be in response to a social media post Brady made in June last year.
In it, he offered to “recreate” a series of Brady Brand’s topless snaps if his post got more than 40,000 likes.
The public reacted by sailing the post past the barrier – and Brady has now taken his end of the bargain.
Fans were quick to comment on the surprise shoot, which took many NFL fans by surprise.
One wrote, “If this is your next career step, I’m here for it.”
Another said: “If we have to endure this retirement of yours then I expect to see you at training camp.”
While a third joked: “Cmon Tom my wife is on this app.”
And a fourth laughed: “Will you start OnlyFans next?”
Brady’s decision to end his career comes a year after his initial retirement in February 2022, which he reversed just weeks later.
But his dad Tom Sr. believes his son is serious this time around – because he’s “tired of being beaten up.”
Per Boston.com, Brady Sr. explained, “It’s been a really tough six months for his personal life, his family life and his football life.
“He once said, ‘I get tired of being hit.’
“Having played 23 years, he holds the disgraceful record for most sacks against in the NFL.

“At 45 you’re like, ‘Hey, do I want to get hit again?’ The answer is really close, I really don’t want to unless everything turns around.
“Unfortunately it didn’t click this year and I think it was a foregone conclusion.”
