Tom Brady is ‘a shell of himself’ as ex-Bucs quarterback smacks star amid future concerns

TOM Brady’s fight against Father Time may have finally beaten him.

So says Shaun King, former quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who recently described the seven-time Super Bowl champion as “a shell of himself.”

Speaking to Compare.bet, King asked, “Why is everyone beating around the bush?

“Tom Brady is the most accomplished professional-level quarterback we’ve seen, and nobody in modern football makes it to ten Super Bowls, and they definitely don’t win seven.

“Nevertheless, you should be honest about what he is now. He’s a shell of himself. Especially when he’s under pressure.”

King’s somewhat brutal assessment of Brady’s most recent game dates back to his first losing season since he was picked up as a starter for the New England Patriots in 2001.

The Buccaneers went 8-9 and won the NFC South before falling at the first hurdle in the playoffs with a 31-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the wild card round.

During his 23rd NFL season, Brady threw for 4,694 yards, 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

His 9.6 yards per completion was the lowest of his career, as was his touchdown percentage of just 3.4 and his -1 total rushing yards for the season.

King said: “Yeah, he can still make a few throws in spurts, and yes, every second or third game he can have a fourth quarter that reminds you of how great he was.

“But from start to finish he is not the same player. Age is undefeated.

“When you see Tom Brady play when he’s under pressure and duress, he’s completely off balance. That’s just the reality.”

Those comments came on the same day that Brady boiled over when he was on his Let’s Go! Podcast with Jim Gray.

When asked if he’d made a decision regarding his future, he said: “If I knew what I was going to do, I fucking would have done it.

“I take it one day at a time.”

Brady will go free this offseason after three years with the Buccaneers.

Whether he chooses to stay in the NFL and push for an eighth Lombardi Trophy remains a mystery, but if not, a reported 10-year, $375 million deal could await him to work as an analyst for Fox Sports in the US to change radio.
