JT vs. Rio: “Stats don’t lie”

John Terry has claimed the “stats don’t lie” after Rio Ferdinand named him just the fifth best centre-back in Premier League history.

Considered by many to be one of the greatest defenders of the Prem era, the Chelsea icon has won the title five times.

But Ferdinand asked THREE Manchester United centre-backs in front of old England colleague Terry, including himself.

The Old Trafford hero joined Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk for BT Sport to discuss the best centre-backs of the Prem era.

And Ferdinand moved into first place, followed by teammate Nemanja Vidic, Van Dijk in third, Jaap Stam in fourth and Terry in fifth.

Van Dijk, meanwhile, let loose and also put Ferdinand in the lead, followed by Vincent Kompany, Stam, Terry and Sami Hyypia.

One man who didn’t agree, however, was the stalwart Stamford Bridge Terry.

On his Instagram story, Terry posted an image that included a variety of stats to back it up.

These included captains with the most Prem titles and center backs with the highest winning percentage in Prem history.

Both were outshined by Terry, who captioned the post, “Opinions are great but the stats don’t lie.” Todd Boehly’s ‘£200m’ Chelsea transfer war chest, Drinkwater EXCUSED, Blues ‘prepare’ Nkunku bid
