Jenna, 41, shared a video of herself talking about the book Black Candle Women while she was behind the scenes at Today in a joint post on Instagram.

She spoke proudly of Black Candle Women, explaining that it was about the generations of women in a particular family.

The TV star went on to reveal that the book was about intergenerationality, a subject that she was “really drawn to”.

Jenna made it clear that she liked these subjects, because when asked which women influenced her the most, she always said her mother and grannies.

The book was the March pick for Read With Jenna, as explained in the post’s caption.

“Our #ReadWithJenna March Black Candle Women pick is all about generations of women, and @jennabhager knows all about drawing inspiration from the strong female figures in her family! What women do you get your inspiration from?” the Post asked.

Jenna, who revealed her connection to the book as she summarized it in the clip, helped convince fans to actually read it themselves.

“My mother, grandma and sister. Three strong women who find beauty even in life’s difficulties,” one person commented.

MADE FOR TELEVISION

Jenna has put time into building her book club and expanding her television credits.

She announced in January that she would be adapting the book Maame with its author for television.

After revealing her choice as Jessica George’s novel Maame in February 2023, Jenna had more to share.

She took a moment to share some additional news while away from the Today studio.

“I was so moved by this book that I am thrilled to announce that with the help of Jessica George, the talented writer, we will be adapting it and hopefully bringing it to television !”

“Oh dear God!” exclaimed Hoda Kotb, 58, as the other hosts and crowd erupted in excited applause.

Jenna gushed about the book when she announced it, likening it to Bridget Jones’ diary with its “British humour”.

It followed a woman named Maddie who lives in London with a mother who has spent much of her time in Ghana.

Maddie is her father’s main carer at home, which means she’s been very busy.

Add work and she’s fed up with how everything in her life is going.

Maddie decided to make a change when her mother returned from Ghana and started “living” once and for all.
