AL ROKER was absent from broadcasting the Thanksgiving Day Parade for 27 years due to health reasons, but that hasn’t stopped him from remotely showing some love for the TODAY show.
Today, the show’s hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb again recently shared a touching picture of the three longtime NBC stars on Instagram, which shows Al, 68, watching his co-hosts from their home.
Today’s longtime weatherman was hospitalized last week after dealing with blood clots in his legs and lungs.
He watched coverage of the parade from his home while recovering from his hospital visit.
He snapped a moving picture in front of his TV while Kotb and Guthrie stood behind him in the middle of their show.
“Back home in time to catch a bit of this [Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade,” he wrote in the caption, before adding: “Missing being next to [Savannah Guthrie] and [Hoda Kotb].”
“Favorite photo of the parade!!!” Read Hoda’s caption in her re-sharing of the photo.
Savannah also shared the same picture on Twitter, calling it “the best news ever.”
Al’s co-hosts smile brightly as he gives a thumbs-up for their performance.
Al previously shared a video of his discharge from the hospital.
“This is my version of the Thanksgiving Day parade… get ready to walk out of the hospital,” he exclaimed.
He can be seen in both the Instagram video and Hoda’s picture representing his alma mater, SUNY Oswego, in a green and yellow polo shirt – indicating the pictures were taken on the same day.
Al and his wife Deborah Roberts have been candid about the health challenges the star weatherman is facing.
The two have shared several updates on his health via their Instagrams.
Al has received a ton of support on social media during his health crisis.
Some big names, like ABC’s David Muir, have expressed public support.
“The parade just wasn’t the same without you. Happy you can be home for the holidays.” someone tweeted in response to Savannah’s post.
Fans have been keen to keep up to date with Al during his health battle; Some have even spotted a striking new look he’s sporting.
Al has been off the Today Show for three weeks.
“After some medical strokes, I am so fortunate to be receiving excellent medical care and on the road to recovery,” Al said in a previous Instagram caption.
