HODA PHONE
Meanwhile, Hoda celebrated her birthday last week by facetiming on air with her co-host during her absence from the show.
The Today Show host took a few days off to celebrate her 59th birthday with her family on Wednesday.
During the Aug. 9 broadcast, her co-host Jenna Bush imputed to Hager, 41, via video call to Hoda live — though not before telling a brief story.
Jenna said she bought Hoda and her family dinner for Hoda and her family at a restaurant the night before, but Hoda left before dessert (topped with a candle) even came out.
Despite the situation, Hoda happily took the Facetime call that showed her happily enjoying family time at her home.
The Today presenter had her wireless headphones on as she said hello to viewers and panned the camera to reveal her mother, sister, brother, sister-in-law and daughters: Haley, six, and Hope, four.
Hoda showed off the birthday decorations throughout her home, including a bunch of balloons and a table runner.
She also showed off her leftover breakfast, which Hoda said was a “surprise” and was delivered to her room.
Her daughter, Haley, devotedly tried to get some airtime on the Facetime call, repeatedly putting her hand on her mother’s head and speaking close to the camera.
Mentioning the dinner Jenna bought for her the night before, Hoda joked, “We had the best dinner on you guys, sorry about the bill, take a loan! It was great!”
Hoda panned the camera to show her home and family once again while her fellow Today hosts wished her a happy birthday.
SECRET REVEALED
Earlier this week, Hoda revealed where she’d been following her sudden absence from the show.
The presenter shared a series of photos on Instagram, giving fans a glimpse of her activities.
She’s been busy taking some time to herself ahead of her planned big birthday party.
In one fell swoop, Hoda was seated at a table surrounded by friends and family while they enjoyed the meal Jenna had paid for.
Hoda captioned the photo: “@jennabhager Thanks for the delicious pre-birthday meal! My family loved it – and YOU!!”
She also shared a photo of herself watching the Women’s World Cup with her kids over the weekend.
HODA’S NEW PROJECT
Before Hoda was absent from Today, he announced a major career move on the show.
The 59-year-old got emotional as she broke the news to fans as her upcoming project was inspired by her youngest daughter Hope.
During Wednesday’s Today show, Hoda announced that she is releasing a new children’s book.
The picture book entitled Hope is a Rainbow will be published in March 2024.
Hoda shared, “A few years ago I wrote the book I’ve Loved You Since Forever and it was inspired by the birth of my daughter Haley.
“Well, I’m bursting at the seams because a book inspired by my youngest daughter, Hope, is coming out next March.”
She explained that the book is about “really looking for hope all around us.”
After showing off the colorful cover of Hoda’s forthcoming release, Savannah Guthrie, 51, asked her co-star to share a little more about the story and how it was made.
Hoda said, “It was based on my daughter, who of course I dreamed and hoped for, and her name just came to me.”

“And she just reminds me that hope is around every corner. No matter what you are going through, no matter what difficulties you experience.”
She added that she actually wrote the book before Hope became ill a few months ago, adding that her daughter is now “on the mend.”
