Today’s Al Roker reveals wife Deborah Roberts’ strict marriage rule after she confirmed the break to ‘take a breather’

AL Roker has revealed his wife Deborah Roberts’ strict rules on their marriage.

The Today Show weatherman, 68, admitted Deborah, 62, makes him “save” his stories for dinner so they don’t eat in silence.

Al brought up the subject while discussing dinner etiquette with his co-hosts Sheneille Jones, Craig Melvin and Dylan Dreyer on Monday.

He said, “It’s funny because I’m going to start telling Deborah a story, she’s going to say, ‘Save it for dinner.'”

When his colleagues burst out laughing, he added, “Like ‘We’re out of stuff?’ I have to save things?”

Craig said through his laughter, “Don’t use your best material, honey!”

Al then joked that he thinks about dinner themes before meals.

“Sorry sweetie, I was workshopping with some friends over lunch to see if it worked,” he said.

“I’ve really refined this act, so I’m saving it for dinner!”

Al has been married to Deborah for 28 years and they have two children together – Leila, 24, and Nick, 20.

The beloved meteorologist also has a daughter Courtney, 36, from a previous relationship.

As an admission about Deborah comes after she revealed she was taking a break because her “body was screaming”.

HEALTH FIGHTS

She has assisted Al with his recent health struggles, which has seen him hospitalized twice.

While Al has slowly recovered and delighted viewers with his return to screens, his wife has announced that she is taking a break.

Deborah posted a video on Instagram explaining her decision.

In the video, filmed outside, she admitted to her followers that she “got a frog in her throat” and was feeling under the weather.

“Sometimes your body says, ‘Enough. It’s time to pause, recharge, renew’ and I think my body is screaming that right now,” she said.

TAKING A BREAK

Deborah added: “So that’s exactly what I’m going to do. I’m going to take a little breather, take a few days and try to refresh and recharge.

“I’m going to log off social media and just focus on myself for a little bit…I see you when I see you.”

She told fans she’ll be seeing them all on ABC next week.

Fans showed understanding for Deborah’s need for a break, with one highlighting personal struggles over the past few months.

“You definitely have to take it easy! You’ve been through a lot in the last few months,” read one comment.

Another added: “Relax peacefully. They’ve been running hard for quite a while now.”

It comes just two days after she posted two photos of herself and Al celebrating Valentine’s Day at Michael’s in New York.

The couple’s first date was at Michael’s and this year they managed to sit at the same table as all those years ago.

Deborah wrote: “Many years ago this guy asked me. Our first real date was at this place.

“At that table. It felt magical. We laughed. We talked. And we discovered something special. And here we are! Again!”
