Today’s Al Roker and his wife Deborah Roberts escape their “leaky, smelly” New York apartment for “outdoor fun” for their vacation weekend.

AL Roker’s wife Deborah Roberts has shared a harrowing update on her apartment lying in ruins after her “fridge gave up the ghost”.
She accompanied the recovering Today Show weatherman and his family upstate to make the most of the dire situation over Memorial Day weekend.
Deborah shared photos of Al and her family witnessing the unexpected turn of events on her Instagram.
In the first picture, Deborah could be seen using an HVAC-like machine while the floors and walls of her apartment were completely gutted.
There was some incense on the floor and Deborah wore casual clothes and an updo as she tried to cope with the tense situation.
She wrote: “Real life moments…just in time for Memorial Day weekend the fridge broke.

“Leaves a dripping, stinky mess.”
“Fortunately we also have a fridge and cool boxes in the basement! So we did what any sane family would do: have fun outdoors.”
In the following Instagram snaps from the multi-photo post, Deborah, Al and their children Leila, 24, and Nicholas, 20, make their way to the fancy city of Kingston, NY.
The 62-year-old shared a selfie in the car with Al, who was smiling softly and wearing a wide-brimmed hat.

Then they went to an outdoor fair, Deborah smiled at some beautiful bouquets of flowers and the whole group had lunch outdoors.
Al seemed glad to be out of town, and in the final snap of the slideshow, Deborah was making lemonade.
“When life gives you lemons…lemonade!” she finished her caption.
After divorcing in 1994, Al and his ex Alice Bell also have a daughter, Courtney, together.
‘SO SORRY!’
One Instagram user commented: “Looks like a great day – without the fridge! I’m sorry!”
A second wrote: “Have you noticed that devices always die on a bank holiday weekend? It’s amazing how predictable that is!”
A third wrote: “Dead fridges are the worst!! I hate having to throw away all that food. On the positive side, there are a lot of devices on sale this holiday weekend.”
A fourth commended: “Nothing can stop you!!! You are a beautiful person, enjoy this beautiful weekend with the family.”
A fifth lightly snapped, “Happy,” while a sixth said, “Real situation, real people!”
On the mend
Al had knee surgery earlier this month and is resting while not airborne but dependent on a cane – according to another recent photo shared by Deborah.
The meteorologist was not in the Today Show studio during his recovery.
His colleague and meteorologist Dylan Dreyer, 41, stepped in for him.
Last week, Al marched onto the Today Show set with a cane and shocked his co-hosts with his surprise appearance.
Craig Melvin, 44, yelled “Jesus Christ!” and ran across the studio to the opposite side of the set when a terrified Sheinelle found herself at a loss for words.
Dylan happily yelled, “No!” as she threw her arms around Al.
A less frightened Craig announced: “He’ll be back early” as he rushed over to greet his friend and colleague while the still speechless Sheinelle Jones, 45, hugged him.
During the unscripted live TV moment, Craig threw his arm around Al and happily greeted the host by saying, “What’s up bro! Good to see you!”
A shocked Craig spoke about how handsome Al was and how dapper he looked for the visit as he exclaimed: “Oh my god! You look great.”
As a surprise, Al wore a pink polo shirt, matching pink pants, a dark blue blazer and a straw hat.
Sheinelle managed to regain her composure when she finally sent the show into the commercial, saying, “We’ll be right back” and “What a goodbye.”
The clip was posted to the morning show’s Twitter account with the caption: “Could this day get any better?! Although @AlRoker headed out to recover from knee surgery, he took some time to give @SheinelleJones, @DylanDreyerNBC and @CraigMelvin some surprise in the studio.”
Fans called the moment a “miracle” and wished Al a speedy recovery.
“HARDEST REPLACEMENT YET”
Al also returned to the morning show via a home broadcast last week to share his progress.
“I’ll be honest, I’ve had a number of body replacement surgeries. This one has been the most difficult so far because they had to take the old one out which had some complications and then put a new one in.”
The popular presenter then shared an X-ray of his knee on his phone for everyone on the Today Show to take a look.
“They had to do a lot of work getting the old hardware out and the new hardware in, plus there’s a titanium cone in there for the bone to grow around.”

“The thing is not to touch the knee and put it on ice and lift it,” Al said.
“I’ve just started outpatient physical therapy,” he proudly admitted.
