So much to celebrate the new year with Winger and Chang.
On Tuesday, Fox announced that it had halted plans for a special New Year’s Eve live from Times Square due to the global increase in COVID cases brought on by the Omicron variant. Every Monday New Year’s Eve Toast & Toast was organized by Masked singer Judge Ken Jeong and former Community costar (and often Masked singer guest judge) Joel McHale.
“While we believe in health and safety protocols for Fox 2022 New Year’s Eve Toast & Toast, the speed at which the recent Omicron cases have spread has made it impossible for us to produce a Times Square live special that meets our standards,” Fox Entertainment said in a statement. “We will not move forward with Fox 2022 New Year’s Eve Toast & Toast in New York. The health and safety of our cast and crew is always, and will continue to be, of paramount importance. Alternative programming for New Year’s Eve on Fox will be announced in the coming days. ”
As of press time, Fox is the only network to confirm it has canceled its New Year’s Eve live broadcast. Among the competitor’s services is ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve with Ryan Seacrest; CBS’ New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash, hosted by American Idolby Bobby Bones and Tonight’s receptionby Rachel Smith; CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live, hosted by Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen from Times Square; and NBC’s Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, hosted by Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson from Miami, Fla. TVLine has contacted representatives from all four networks about potential programming changes.
