TIME’s 2022 Person of the Year was announced as Volodymyr Zelensky and “the Ghost of Ukraine” after Elon Musk named a finalist

VOLODYMYR Zelensky and “the spirit of Ukraine” have been named TIME’s 2022 Person of the Year.
The President of Ukraine and his people are recognized for their courage amidst the Russian invasion.

The announcement was made TODAY on Wednesday.
It comes after Time released a list of finalists for the person who made the biggest impact on the news over the past year.
This year’s list of finalists for the honor included Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
Zelenskyy, 44, has been president since 2019 after a successful career as a comedian.
TIME journalist Simon Shuster wrote: “Zelenskyy’s success as a war leader stems from the fact that courage is contagious.
“It spread through the political leadership of Ukraine in the first days of the invasion, when everyone realized that the president had stayed.”
