Tim Weah shares an emotional hug with football legend George’s father after USMNT reached the Round of 16 World Cup

TIM WEAH got a hug from the President – but not from Joe Biden – after the epic US victory.

The USMNT forward celebrated the victory against Iran with his father George, a football legend.

George Weah had a successful playing career in Europe and went into politics after his retirement.

The 56-year-old became president of his native country Liberia in 2018.

And he was present to watch son Tim on Tuesday.

The US defeated Iran 1-0 thanks to Christian Pulisic’s goal to secure a place in the last 16.

There was wild celebration on the part of the USA after progressing to the knockout rounds.

George met his son Tim in the tunnel while the 22-year-old’s mother was also Clar.

The family hugged and spoke briefly before Tim disappeared into the dressing room.

The US soccer team was greeted by cheering fans as they returned to their base in Doha.

The US team returned to a raucous reception at its five-star Marsa Malaz Kempinski base.

The players celebrated with cheering fans, most with big smiles on their faces.

However, fans noted that Gio Reyna – who has yet to start a game at the World Cup – doesn’t seem to be having the best time.
