TikTok star Ophelia Nichols’ 18-year-old son, Randon Lee, received a chilling final call just minutes before he was shot dead

THE man accused of killing a TikTok star’s son spoke to him on the phone just two minutes before the deadly shooting, according to police.

Reuben Gulley, 20, is accused of fatally shooting Ophelia Nichols’ son Randon Lee, 18, at a gas station in Prichard, Alabama, in June.

Gulley and Lee spoke on the phone multiple times on the day of the shooting, Prichard Police Detective Jason Hadaway said during a preliminary hearing Monday.

Lee’s girlfriend reportedly told police that Lee had sold marijuana to Gulley in the past and was plotting a drug deal on the day of his death.

Another witness also told police that he and Lee communicated via Snapchat and that Lee asked if it was okay to sell the drugs to Gulley, as reported by WKRG.

Mobile County District Judge Spiro Cheriogotis ruled that there was sufficient evidence to refer the case to a grand jury.

Security footage from the First Stop gas station shows a man in a red hoodie getting out of a black Toyota Camry with a gun and jumping into Lee’s car, Hadaway said.

The man then exits Lee’s car about 22 seconds later and gets back into the Camry.

During the hearing, Gulley’s attorney, Chase Dearman, dismissed the charges, arguing that the only evidence prosecutors had against his client was the phone call.

“There is not a single living witness and police have said they cannot turn up a single person – they cannot bring Reuben Gulley to this crime scene. They don’t know he was ever there. They don’t know if he was ever in the car,” Dearman said.

Gulley turned himself in on August 18 because he did not want to run from police, his attorney added.

Assistant District Attorney Lauren Walsh told the courtroom Monday that while they have no evidence Galley was in Lee’s car, they believe he is the man in the red hoodie.

“We believe he is the shooter at this point, but even if he were the driver, he would be just as guilty under complicity liability,” she said.

Lee was shot dead just hours before he turned 19th Birthday.

Nichols revealed she learned “a lot of things” that she didn’t know before her son was killed, including that he sold drugs.

She said in a video: “We were told that the detectives believe there was marijuana trafficking. My son met there and they either tried to rob him or they robbed him and he was shot.”

Nichols pleaded with her millions of followers for information in order to catch her son’s killer.

She said, “I’ve never asked you anything, but I need your help with it.

“Snatched from my children, my husband and our family. My son was murdered. He was shot.

“And I have this hatred in my heart that I don’t recognize. Because I’ve never felt hate for anyone. This person took my son’s life.”

In a heartbreaking video, she urged her followers to “look at her son.”

The mum said she would “not stop” until the killer is found and prosecuted for Randon’s murder.

Nichols revealed that Lee was in “a lot of trouble” after his father died.

She said: “He comes from good people, and he comes from a good family and home, but sometimes it doesn’t matter. Sometimes it just doesn’t matter.”

MAMA DEAD

Known online as Mama Tot, Nichols has more than 7.6 million followers.

She made the decision to join TikTok during the Covid-19 pandemic at a time when people were flocking to the app to distract from the strict nationwide lockdowns.

She found the topic for her platform when she saw not only positive reactions to her videos but also bullying.

“I made a video one day for a girl who just didn’t feel that good in her dress that day, and I made the video and it just blew up from there,” she told NBC15 News.

Her nickname, Mama Tot, came about because she called each of her followers “tater tot.”

“At home, that’s just a southern term of endearment. It means ‘I’m thinking of you’ or ‘I love you,'” she told the outlet.
