A Mexican TikTok star was gunned down outside her home last week just minutes after she answered a phone call urging her to go outside, new reports show.
Karla Pardini, 21, was shot dead outside her home in Culiacan, Sinaloa, on September 20 after answering the eerie phone call at 10:30 p.m.
During the call, Pardini was reportedly asked to go outside, according to multiple reports, citing Sinaloa District Attorney Sara Bruna Quinonez.
“According to information provided by her mother, she received a call, went outside and that’s when the attack happened,” Quinonez told reporters.
According to the Mirror, her body was found the next day at the intersection of Catedraticos and Ignacio Lopez Rayon in her neighborhood.
The Sinaloa Attorney General’s Office said the TikToker was ambushed and shot at multiple times, the outlet reported.
It remains unclear who shot Pardini, but witnesses reportedly told officers that several gunmen were in the area at the time.
Currently, the Sinaloa government is treating Pardini’s death as “femicide because she was under attack and in a state of helplessness,” Quinonez reportedly said.
“We are conducting the investigation with the utmost secrecy so as not to alert the possible suspect,” the prosecutor added, according to the outlet.
As of Tuesday, no arrests had been made in her murder.
Pardini, who has amassed more than 90,000 followers on TikTok, had been posting dance videos on the social media app since 2020.
Dozens of her followers have mourned her death in her still active comments section.
“We live in a cruel world,” wrote one commenter.
“Rip fly high,” commented another.
“Rip you will be missed,” wrote another.
“To Ms. Karla Pardini’s friends and family, sending my deepest condolences for her loss,” one wrote.
In her latest video uploaded to TikTok – posted the day before her murder – Pardini faces the camera while the on-screen text reads: “If they tell me they don’t like me. In short, I hope you like me less.”
As of Tuesday afternoon, the post had been viewed more than 1.6 million times.
Pardini’s death is the 14th woman reportedly murdered in Sinaloa this year, the Mirror reported, citing the regional government.
