Currently there is no parental controls or way to monitor the app.

Could TikTok be banned in the UK?

The app has been banned on UK government devices amid concerns about government data leaks.

This decision was made on March 16, 2023 as the government wants to ensure cyber security.

MEPs who still have the app will find that the service is blocked if they try to use it over the parliamentary WiFi.

However, there was no information to suggest that any steps are being taken to ban the app to the general public.

How many people in the UK use TikTok?

The UK is believed to have at least 23.3 million users of the app.

US President Joe Biden announced plans to ban the app if it refuses to divest itself of parent company ByteDance.

India banned the app in 2020 after a clash between Indian and Chinese forces on the grounds that it was designed to protect national security.

Pakistan has temporarily banned the app four times since October 2020 because it believes the app promotes “immoral content.”

Has China banned the app?

TikTok is not accessible in China without using a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

However, China has its own version of the app called DouYin, which is very popular.

DouYin is also owned by parent company ByteDance, which has carefully distanced itself from the Chinese government.
