Tiger Woods’ role as ‘Alpha’ in the PGA Tour crisis meeting has been revealed after he flew in for talks amid LIV Golf’s civil war

TIGER WOODS was the “alpha” in the room as PGA Pros held a three-and-a-half hour Players Only Talk this week.
Woods, 46, flew to Wilmington, Delaware to meet with golf’s top stars amid a civil war in the sport.

The 15-time major champion and top PGA player held talks about how the Tour plans to fight back against LIV Golf.
The Saudi Arabia-backed rebel series has drawn a rift in the sport with the likes of Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau.
Woods has criticized players who have turned their backs on the PGA Tour after reportedly turning down an $800 million offer from LIV.
And the golf giant flew to the BMW Championship for a conference lasting more than three hours with 22 golfers.

On the eve of the next FedEx Cup playoff event, Rory McIlroy revealed Woods’ role in the meeting.
McIlroy explained how Tiger took a hands-on approach to taking actionable steps toward the future.
Rory said: “We’re all great players, but we’re not Tiger Woods.
“He’s the hero we all looked up to and his voice carries farther than anyone else in the game of golf.
“His role navigates us to a place we all think we should be.
“I think it’s pretty obvious that every time we all get in the room, there’s an alpha in there and it’s not me. He cares a lot.
“It shows how much he cares about the Tour, it shows how much he cares about the players that are going to come through and be the next generation.
“He carried the Tour for a long, long time. Players who were his contemporaries, we all benefited from that.”
Details of the meeting were not disclosed by any of the professionals present.
The PGA Tour had already announced record prize money for the coming season.

At The Open in July, Woods said: “I don’t agree with those who went to LIV, I think they turned their backs on what allowed them to get to that position.
“They went straight to this organization from the amateur ranks and never really had a chance to feel what it was like to play a schedule or play at big events.”
