Thunderstorms hit ALL WEEK with flash flood warning issued and eight inches of rain forecast

Thunderstorms are expected throughout the week as a flash flood warning was issued with up to 20cm of rain in some parts of the US.

Heavy rain is possible “in the Southeast, Gulf Coast and Southwest” over the next few days, according to NOAA’s Weather Prediction Center.

Isolated severe thunderstorms are also likely in various parts of Montana and the upper Midwest on Tuesday, moving into the northern plains on Wednesday.

“Well above average temperatures” are also expected in the northern and central plains on Wednesday, “while increasing heat and humidity gradually spread eastward in the second half of the week,” the center notes.

The area from New Orleans to South Florida can expect heavy rain during the week.

High temperatures around 90 degrees Fahrenheit are likely along the Gulf Coast through New Orleans.

Jason Frazer, Fox Weather’s morning weather forecaster, explains, “Later this morning through this afternoon we will see some showers in places like Tampa, Fort Meyers, the Everglades and Miami/Miami Gardens.

“This is a disturbance that we have also observed in the Gulf of Mexico.

“This is going to bring a whole lot of rain not only to Mobile but to New Orleans as well.”

After the rain subsides around 11pm tonight, it is expected to return tomorrow.

Frazer warned that Miami, The Keys and Sarasota are likely to see “heavier downpours” in what the news anchor described as “repeat flushing.”

Over the next week, Tampa, New Orleans and St. Petersburg will likely see about three to five inches of rain.

He added: “From Fort Meyers down to the Everglades, we could see between three and five inches of rain over the next week.

“And New Orleans will probably end up seeing the same thing. Most of Florida will end up showing somewhere between about another inch and two inches.”

The prognosis comes after the NOAA satellites clouds over the US Southwest and southern Rocky Mountains brought “monsoon-like moisture and triggered some flash flooding in New Mexico.”

Tropical Storm Celia has also been seen off the coast of Baja California.
