Three people are shot dead in a shooting at Xavier University graduating from Morris Jeff Community School in New Orleans

THREE people were reportedly shot dead at a high school graduation Tuesday morning.
Police say the shooting took place on the Xavier University campus in New Orleans, where Morris Jeff High School’s graduation ceremony was being held.

Police say the shooting happened in the parking lot in front of the Convocation Center, which is used as a venue for numerous high school graduations each spring, reports KALB 5.
According to initial police findings, three people suffered gunshot wounds.
The victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The names, ages and condition of the victims were not immediately known.


It is unclear if the victims were students at Morris Jeff High School.
According to police, the shooter was arrested at the scene.
Witnesses told the outlet that a fight broke out shortly after the ceremony ended and then about five to 12 gunshots were heard.
The latest shooting occurred after gunfire erupted for Hammond High School on May 19 before another graduation ceremony at Southeastern Louisiana University.
In that shooting, police claim Trent Thomas, 20, opened fire and injured four people.
