Three girls who were killed by their AR-15-using father in a church have been photographed and revealed that their mother fears for their safety.
Chaperone Nathaniel Kong, 59, was killed before the gunman killed himself.
A memorial has been set up outside the church and a vigil was held after the shooting.
The mourners placed dolls, teddy bears and flowers as they paid their respects.
The children’s aunt Jovana Venegas created a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses.
A woman filed a domestic violence restraining order in May against her then-boyfriend Mora, according to reports. Sacramento District court records.
She warned that he was “dangerous,” adding that she had moved out of the home because of safety concerns, according to court documents cited by LA era.
This order remains in place until 2026, allowing fathers to see their children under the supervision of a man called Nathaniel.
Mora must stay at least 100 yards away from her and their daughter except for supervised visits, court documents said.
She said he strangled her, pushed her, threw things at her and threatened to kill her.
“Due to the defendant’s mental instability, I asked my friend to supervise childcare,” the woman wrote in court documents.
Yadira Ortega was with her two children preparing takeout dinner when she heard gunfire, according to Sacramento Bee.
She told the outlet that the footage appeared “disjointed”.
“I saw them carrying one of the little girls out,” Ortega said. They did CPR, I can’t say for how long, but when I knew it wasn’t successful they covered her right away.”
The girls attend Bannon Creek Elementary School and Leroy Greene Academy in the Natomas Unified School District.
Students in the district have received emotional support and counseling.
The tragedy comes just days after Mora was arrested for resisting arrest, crashing into a police officer and driving under the influence.
Sheriff Scott Jones: “You don’t know what people are capable of.”
He added: “It was very uncomfortable. There are so many ways that this could have played out and obviously, it’s a tragedy, no matter how it plays out.”
Connor Madsen, 21, was at his brother’s house when he heard police rushing to the scene.
I said CapRadio: “We just had a baby. That sucks. You just took the lives of some of the kids that have the rest of their lives, and now they can’t.”
