Three decomposing bodies found in house after being tied with string, locked in basement and brutally stabbed

THREE bodies have been found with brutal stab wounds in a New York City home following a mysterious murder.
One of the victims was tied up with electrical cords and tape in the second floor bedroom of the Queens home, while the other two victims – a mother and son – were locked in a basement room.

The victims have since been identified as 22-year-old Varshana “Brittany” Malcolm, 55-year-old Karlene Barnett and her 36-year-old Dervon Brightly.
Malcolm was reportedly found on the bed with his hands taped together and his mouth taped shut.
She was stabbed multiple times in the chest and also in the neck.
Brightly and Barnett both suffered multiple stab wounds as well as blunt force trauma to the head.

Malcolm was a family friend visiting from Jamaica.
Cops said the bodies were at the home for at least three days before they were discovered by Barnett’s other son on Friday.
Neighbors recalled dismissing a foul-smelling odor coming from the house and not giving it much thought until police showed up.
“Who in their right mind would do that? To tie up a girl and then slice her up is crazy,” neighbor Isaiah Adams told the New York Daily News.
Barnett owns and lives in the home with her other son, who discovered the gory scene when he returned on Friday.
“They were a Jamaican family – they lived here longer than we did, a long time,” said neighbor Zaman Asm.
“The mother is a good, nice person. I have not heard anything. It’s scary that happened.”
The New York Post reported that the son who made the discovery was arrested by police but later released.

According to a police source, it was not immediately clear why the three victims were being targeted.
No arrests were made at this time.
