Three children orphaned to college sweetheart parents, 47, are killed in a head-on collision en route to their son’s basketball game

THREE children have been left without parents after their college friends mom and dad were killed in a horrific head-on collision while driving to one of their basketball games.
Jerry and Tara Weaver, both 47, died when a runaway tractor-trailer crossed the center line and struck their SUV head-on, police said.

The tractor-trailer reportedly attempted to overcorrect the vehicle after it drifted onto the side of the Michigan road before it got into the left lane.
The couple, who met at Lake Superior University, had been married since 1998, according to the obituary.
“Jerry and Tara loved attending their children’s sporting events and various school activities, always cheering them on and encouraging them to do their best,” the obituary added.
They were on their way to their son’s basketball game in Garden Township when the tragic clash occurred.

Two of her children are in high school and the third is grown.
Jerry worked as an inspector for the Michigan State FDA and Tara was Great Start Director at the Delta Schoolcraft-ISD.
Hundreds gathered in Escanaba last week to pay their respects to the parents, WLUC reported.
A GoFundMe account set up for the family has raised more than $200,000 in donations for their children, Noah, Lukas and Sophia Weaver.
