AMERICANS are to receive an additional payment under a new cash assistance plan to help families deal with high costs.
Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb has signed off on $1 billion in tax refunds after lawmakers reached a deal on Friday.
It will give residents a $200 direct payment.
However, according to 95.3 MNC, thousands of Americans will receive a $325 lump sum payment.
That includes taxpayers who have yet to receive their first round of rebates worth $125 per person and $250 for married couples.
Originally, Holcomb proposed a $225 refund as a result of the state’s record reserves of $6.1 billion.
However, Republican lawmakers lowered it to $200.
“This fulfills what I set out to achieve when I called the General Assembly into a special session to help Hoosiers affected by historically high inflation,” Mr Holcomb said in a statement.
Who is eligible and when will they arrive?
This time, all Indiana taxpayers get a rebate.
The other round required you to file a state income tax return – which means more people are now eligible.
Approximately 4.3 million Hoosiers (approximately 85% of the state’s population) qualified for a payment of up to $250 under the previous plan.
It is unclear when the next round of discounts will arrive.
However, Inside Indiana Business reported that the state Treasury Department said the paper checks would be issued as part of the first round in mid-July.
There will be additional guidance online for Indians who don’t receive their checks by September 1 as the state deals with paper supply chain issues.
The DOR did not respond to The Sun’s request for comment.
