THOMAS PARTEY took a seven-hour flight to play in Arsenal’s Carabao Cup clash with Liverpool … sent off after FIFTEEN minutes.
The midfielder, 28, came on as a late substitute at the Emirates but lasted only a quarter of an hour after two clumsy fouls.
Partey received two yellow cards – the second for a tiring, belated foul on Fabinho while Arsenal led 2-0.
And the sacking capped a miserable week for the Ghanaian, coming just two days after he eliminated from Africa Cup of Nations.
The continent’s heavyweights fell to the Comoros disabled 3-2 to finish bottom of their table.
Partey woke up in Cameroon on Thursday morning and landed in London just seven hours before the game started, telling boss MIkel Arteta he was fine to have a place on the bench amid the squad’s formation. Gunners have a problem.
Unfortunately, Partey was rewarded with an early shower and a second cup exit this week as Liverpool won 2-0.
And his actions only create another headache for Arteta, as Partey is currently banned from Sunday’s clash with Burnley.

However, the Spaniard has defended his decision to play the £45million man.
“I don’t regret it, but I can’t use him now,” he said.
“He worked hard to come, we had to play him.
‘Emile [Smith Rowe] Haven’t had a training session yet, Martin [Odegaard] same, Laca [Alexandre Lacazette] got a yellow card.
“We had to make a decision and we decided to use him and unfortunately that happened.”
When asked on Sky Sports if fatigue was the cause of the red card, Arteta said: “I don’t think so.”
Before the game, Arteta praised Partey for his commitment.
He said: “He (Partey) showed his commitment.
“He was really disappointed when he received [knocked] out of Afcon, but immediately he said, ‘I want to join’.
“He landed at midday and went straight to the hotel – he wanted to be there on the bench to help.”
Incredibly, the red card is Arsenal’s THE THIRD DAY this month – meaning they saw three times as many kicks as goals by 2022.
