CANELO ALVAREZ and Gennady Golovkin took a break from throwing punches to throw the ceremonial first pitch at Yankee Stadium.
The boxing duo shared the honor of starting the ball game as the New York Yankees took on Oakland Athletics in MLB.
Canelo, 31, is still reeling from a shock loss to Dmitry Bivol in Las Vegas last month.
But fans were delighted to see the Mexican sensation strut down the hill alongside rivals GGG.
In a small break from tradition, both boxers participated in the ceremonial first pitch before the MLB showdown.
Alvarez was the first to release his throw and showed good technique as he unleashed a decent fast ball.
Golovkin, meanwhile, looked like a natural on the stadium, his smooth action landing his pitch right on point.
Boxing fans were thrilled to see their heroes ahead of the deciding match that ultimately saw the Yankees go 9-5 victorious.
And many were impressed with the boxers’ throwing arm and took to social media to praise their efforts.
One wrote: “Haha Canelo might just pitch the rest of the game.”
While another added: “Canelo actually has a pretty good arm!”
While one said: “This rivalry is just legendary”.
But some were hoping for more fireworks before the pair went nose to nose in a face-off on the hill.
One fight-hungry fan wrote: “Canelo should have gone full throttle and thrown away [the ball] at GGG. miss opportunity!”
Canelo and Golovkin last fought in September 2018 when the Mexican won a controversial rematch on points.
After four long years, their trilogy is finally back – and Golovkin, 40, took a shot at the Mexican and said he avoided getting in the ring with him again.
But Alvarez is confident his nine-year age advantage can add another win on September 17.
He said: “He talks a lot of things about me. That’s why it’s personal.
“He’s always talking about how I’m scared, I run away when I’m fighting the best guys out there and he’s fighting Class D fighters.
“He always pretends to be a nice guy, like in front of people.
“It is what it is. I don’t pretend to be nice, that’s who I am. I don’t pretend to be someone else.
“He’s two different people, he’s pretending to be a nice guy. He’s not an asshole.”
