Thibaut Courtois has produced an iconic performance to keep Liverpool at bay.

But who else has played well for Real and the Reds?

ALISON – 6

A mix-up with Konate for Benzema’s disallowed goal and then a scare just before half-time when he nearly missed a goal.

No chance for the Vinicius strike.

TRENT ALEXANDER ARNOLD – 6

On a mission to forget his nightmare clash against Real last season and he did just that with some great tackles and blocks – but then badly caught on goal.

IBRAHIMA KONAT – 7

What a great first season he enjoyed and nodded ahead to Joel Matip.

Extremely strong in defense until he came into conflict with Alisson in the first half.

VIRGIL VAN DIJK-6

Was also caught by the ball leading to the disallowed goal and then could have done a little better for the Vinicius shot.

ANDY ROBERTSON-7

Also out of position in the move that led to Benzema’s offside goal but generally well under pressure – and now a massive World Cup play-off on Wednesday.

THIAGO ALCANTARA-7

There were doubts about his start as he seemed to have a problem in warm-up.

Some brilliant passes escaped with a poor header back to Alisson.

FABINHO-7

A pre-game fitness doubt was composed in possession and helped protect the defense on the rare occasions when Real did get in front.

JORDAN HENDERSON-6

Given the nod to Naby Keita and the typically diligent performance, Liverpool helped without making much of an impact.

LUIS DIAZ-6

Absolutely great player and as we all expected he was a real threat on the left in the first half but faded badly and was replaced by Jota.

Sadio Mane – 6

Doubts about his future and was ok although the service could have been better.

Had a shot hit the post and few chances in the second half.

Mo Salah – 6th

Three big chances.

Forced a great early save from Courtois but was then denied by two even better second-half stops from the Belgian.
