“They are the favorites to take 4th place for me”

Jamie Redknapp believes Manchester United are the favorites to take the fourth and final berth in the Champions League. The Red Devils are currently fighting West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal for fourth place in the ranking.

United advanced to the international finals in fourth place after a belated 1-0 win over fellow country rivals West Ham. Arsenal could only draw 0-0 against Burnley, while Tottenham lost 0-2 at the hands of Chelsea, making MU’s victory even more important.

Jamie Redknapp believes the only team that can match Manchester United when it comes to the second half of the season is Tottenham. However, Spurs will need the return of Antonio Conte this transfer window for that to happen.

Speaking before Chelsea vs Tottenham match, Redknapp speak:

“Man United are title contenders to take fourth place for me. But they (Spurs) gave themselves a huge opportunity and bringing in a manager when they did made a huge difference for them. I said it a few weeks ago and I’ll say it again, if you fund him and get him the right player there’s no reason why he can’t achieve a lot at Tottenham. That’s all but they need one or two to thicken the squad and make them better. ”

Manchester United have now accumulated 38 points from 22 matches. The Red Devils broke into the top four for the first time since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked. As things go, United are one point ahead of fifth-placed West Ham and have a game in their hands.

However, both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur can overtake Manchester United if they win the games at hand. The Gunners are currently sixth in the table with 36 points and two points behind United, having played one game less.

Tottenham are ranked seventh, meanwhile, also have 36 points but have two matches in the hands of Ralf Rangnick’s team.

A finish in the top four is the minimum amount Manchester United will want after investing in the summer

Before the 2021-22 season began, Manchester United spent large sums of money signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane to strengthen the squad. Sancho is the most expensive signing, costing around £73m to buy from Borussia Dortmund.

The Red Devils will look to challenge for the Premier League title with these signings but that has not happened so far. Finishing in the top four is the bare minimum the club needs to achieve this season. Without Champions League football, United could find it difficult to keep the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford next season. “They are the favorites to take 4th place for me”
