‘There’s no way for any player to be allowed to say that’ – Rio Ferdinand wants Manchester United to ‘shut down’ the player if Rangnick’s claims are true

Before Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand hit out at Anthony Martial about how he handled his situation at the club.

Martial is said to be leaving Manchester United soon in search of a regular starting position. The Frenchman is unlikely to be part of Ralf Rangnick’s plans for the club going forward and is yet to appear for the German this season.

Rangnick also accused Martial of refusing to play for the club in order to force a move, which the Frenchman has categorically denied. Speaking on his Vibe to the FIVE podcast, Ferdinand gave his opinion on the situation in general. He say:

“Do you know what? That situation is a perfect example of that football club hierarchy. If Martial doesn’t tell the truth there – and I don’t create any distraction – – but if he doesn’t tell the truth when he says he never refuses to play or disrespects the club, if he refuses someone at that football club needs to come out and completely put this to bed.”

“They need to speak clearly, put a line in the sand, put a flag down and say, ‘This is us and this is where we are. Now, Rangnick has come out with what he said and Martial has responded and basically said the manager is lying. It’s better for someone to come out today or tomorrow and say something. You can’t let a player go on the pitch and take what you say. No chance. “

He continued:

“He needs to shut down if that’s true. If Rangnick is right, there’s no way any player should be allowed to say that. I don’t understand that. Manchester United cannot allow players to say like that. So. There is a Right and a wrong in this situation and I want to know.”
