As teams searched for the first goal of the competition, LSU’s Maya Gordon and Ole Miss’ Ramsey Davis battled for possession on the long touchline.
Davis tried to deflect Gordon’s pressure and appeared to catch her in the head with a flying arm.
The LSU defenseman responded with a furious punch, after which the two exchanged brutal shots in front of a stunned ball girl onlooker.
The referee rushed over to try and calm the situation, but within seconds players were rushing in from both sides.

LSU’s Shannon Cooke managed to sideline Gordon, but Rammie Noel rushed over to defend her teammate.
She was seen pulling Davis to the ground by her hair, requiring the intervention of coaches from both teams to stop the madness.
After things calmed down, the referee showed the trio of Gordon, Davis and Noel the red card.
They will each serve a one-game ban for their part in the riot.
Things went from bad to worse for the Tigers, who lost 3-0 on penalties with nine players.
Ole Miss goalkeeper Ashley Orkus was the hero, saving two penalties while another was sent over the bar.
After their loss, LSU is still awaiting their NCAA tournament fate.
