The Whittaker filmmaker reveals disturbing behavior from America’s most inbred family in a shocking encounter

THE filmmaker who documented the Whittaker family has revealed the disturbing behavior exhibited by “America’s most inbred family” during their meeting.

Mark Laita first visited the Whittaker family in Odd, West Virginia in 2004 but was not always given a warm welcome.

Neighbors are incredibly protective of the family and will chase away anyone who shows up to photograph or taunt the Whittaker.

“They are protected by the neighbors and the relatives don’t like it when these people come to ridicule them,” Laita said on an episode of the Koncrete KLIPS podcast.

Latia described his first visit to the family as “the craziest thing” he’s ever seen.

“It was out of control. There are these people walking around and their eyes going in different directions and they’re barking at us,” Latia said on the podcast.

“I even saw a man run away with his pants falling around his ankles.”

As Laita continued to bond with the Whittakers, he documented more of her behavior as well.

In his films, he conducts interviews from the family’s porch, sometimes going inside to reveal the reality of their home.

Laita talks to three siblings in one of the early films: Betty, Lorraine and Ray.

Other family members also appear, including a nephew named Timmy.

While the family’s four dogs appear to be well cared for, some of the Whittakers appear to have dirty, disheveled clothing and living conditions.

Family members also appeared to have physical and mental health issues.

Some were unable to communicate and would only use a grunt to confirm they were being spoken to.

However, they seem to understand the limited forms of communication they use, even if it may sound incomprehensible to outsiders.

Other family members appear in front of the camera in stained, ill-fitting clothing.

Laita asked Betty about her relatives’ mental and physical abnormalities, but she claimed not to know what caused them.

In another video, another relative, Kenneth, is asked the same question, speaking specifically about the problem all family members have when their eyes aren’t forward.

He replies, “Could be coal mining.”

Laita visited the family again in 2022 for another follow-up.

After this visit, Laita set up a GoFundMe to help the family make needed improvements to their home.

It has raised more than $55,000 to improve their quality of life.
