Every child has done something that they consider unforgivable and that makes them fear the consequences. This related episode was clearly portrayed in “Full House” Season 3, Episode 20, “Honey, I Broke the House.” In this memorable episode, Stephanie Tanner commits the worst act she’s ever done in her eight years on earth.
The episode begins with Stephanie chatting to Joey in the backyard, who is tending to her shiny red ’63 Rambler. When he leaves to pick up some refinishing paint, Stephanie decides to go on an imaginary outing. With the key in the ignition, she turns on the car to listen to the radio but puts it in reverse mode instead. This leads to dire results, like Stephanie accidentally crashing her car into the house.
Luckily, she was unharmed, but Stephanie knew she was in big trouble. Fearing the consequences, she ran away from home but didn’t get very far. Jesse finds her hiding at Becky’s (Lori Loughlin) house and brings her back home to face the music. After being taken to her room, Stephanie anxiously awaits her father’s punishment.
Feeling guilty, Stephanie tells her father that she doesn’t trust his forgiveness and love. While angry with her actions, Danny realizes the underlying problem and immediately resolves it. He tells Stephanie that no matter what she does, he will never stop loving her. After all, everything can be replaced, “but there is only one Stephanie Judith Tanner.” It was an important lesson for Stephanie and Danny’s reassurance confirmed that he really was the best TV dad ever.
