As the panel entered the studio, the crowd went wild, cheering and shouting for the hosts.

After the initial cheers had died down, one person shouted something and Whoopi pointed at them and said, “OK. Understood.”

The hosts laughed, and Sunny Hostin said, “It’s a happy Wednesday crowd.”

As Sunny spoke, the person in the crowd shouted something else.

Whoopi then said, “It’s a very happy crowd.”

She continued the introduction when she realized what the viewer was yelling at her.

The presenter turned back to them and asked, “Did you just call me ‘old woman’?”

The View presenters and crowd erupted as she said, “Yeah.”

“Has she?” asked Joy Behar.

“Yes. She said ‘Yo broad’ and I said ‘Hey’,” Whoopi replied.

“It’s Wednesday,” Sunny said.

“It’s Wednesday and I’m an old bride and happy about it,” Whoopi told the crowd.

After the heckler excitement, Whoopi wanted to clear up a little bit on Wednesday’s episode this week.

Speaking to the camera, the Sister Act star said: “Anyone who watches the show knows we have the best studio audience and they catch fire when we come out of here, we’re counting on that energy.

“So I’m setting the record straight about something that happened at the start of the show last week. During our strike, a bystander yelled ‘you old chick’ which prompted us to fool around with the audience.”

Whoopi continued, “We’re on live TV, so the cameras show the audience laughing and applauding during our exchange, focusing on a different audience than the one that actually screamed ‘old bride.’

“Which led to some people falsely accusing this particular woman of calling me wrong, so I’m cleaning up this woman’s good name.

“She’s a loyal member of the audience, an upstanding citizen and a View fan. You know, we can’t do this show without the support of viewers like her and viewers like you, so please leave her alone!” Whoopi urged.

She then added: “That was a fun light moment everyone relax ok!”

It was also reported that The View staff issued an off-camera warning to their live TV audience the day after Whoopi heckled.

The US Sun can exclusively reveal that crowd warmer Regina DeCicco issued a warning to viewers just before the start of the show.

According to an eyewitness, she said: “We will not shout! We’re going to cheer and have fun.”
