At the end of the season, the Hargreeves and the remaining Sparrows manage to reset the timeline, albeit with the assistance of Reginald Hargreeves, who kills almost all of them to carry out his sinister agenda.

Ultimately, the timeline is completely reset and the surviving family members are left in a strange new world without any power whatsoever. But on the bright side, everyone who was dead (Luther) is now alive and all serious injuries – Diego’s severed fingers and Five’s missing arm – have been recovered.

Most siblings split up into groups. However, the season brings another surprise during the mid-credits scene.

The Umbrella Academy season 3 mid-credits scene explained

The mid-credits scene creates the perfect bookend for season three. Season 3 begins with a flashback to October 1st, 1989 on a subway in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. A young woman gives birth after getting pregnant in seconds.

In the middle of the credits, we see Ben Hargreeves on a subway, reading a book. The announcer announces that they are now arriving at Yeuido Station, which is located in Seoul. So we can assume that Ben is now looking for his birth mother. The season begins and ends with Ben in Seoul as all signs point to the woman on the grid being his mother.

Harlan killed all of the mothers in the previous timeline, but with the reset it now appears that all of those who died during that time are alive again.

Ben no longer has his powers, but it will be interesting to see what happens in his new trip to Seoul. Will we follow him there next season? What could he uncover? With most of the Sparrows gone and Ben unsure where he fits in now, it makes sense that he would go in search of his birth family.
